Cutting Edge: Wind research with Henry Shiu
Wind power currently provides 3% of the U.S.'s electricity, and if trends continue, it could reach as high as 20%, according to the Department of Energy.
Engineer Henry Shui, of the University of California-Davis California Wind Energy Collaborative, looks at current efforts to improve the durability and aerodynamic performance of wind turbine rotors and the prospects for offshore wind farming in AAAS's latest Cutting Edge lecture Cutting Edge: Energy -- wind.
