Alzheimer's and dementia in African Americans
Older African Americans and Hispanics are considerably more likely than older whites to have Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, according to Patrick A. Griffith, M.D., a professor of clinical medicine at Morehouse School of Medicine. Why is this the case? Griffith says this is unclear but factors such as lifestyle and diet may play a role. Griffith believes we can learn a lot more about Alzheimer's by looking at these at higher risk groups.
