Conviction of quake scientists stuns scientific community
The convictions in Italy of seven individuals, four of them scientists, for manslaughter in the deaths resulting from the 2009 L’Aquila earthquake have stunned the scientific community worldwide. AAASMC asked AAAS Fellow Dr. Mark Zoback, professor of geophysics at Stanford University, about the verdict and its impact on the scientific community.
